MEET THE 18 FINALISTS OF MISS SINGAPORE BEAUTY PAGEANT 2018
August 06, 2018
It's been exactly a year since the Miss Singapore Beauty Pageant 2017 Saga happened where an unofficial photograph drew lots of hate and flak towards the finalists. Yet, each and every one of them stood tall throughout the pageant and stayed true to themselves amidst all the hate received.
What's next? I thought.
This year, we will be witnessing the coronation of Three Main Titles which will be fought by 18 finalists, the titles are:
Miss Singapore Global Tourism 2018
Miss Singapore Chinatown 2018
Miss Singapore Global Beauty Queen 2018
In support of their motto "Beauty with A Heart", ERM and Miss Singapore Beauty Pageant has partnered up with Handicap Welfare Association (HWA) this year as part of their Charity Involvement Project for the finalists to join the cause and to support the organization.
The finalists got to engage and interact with the beneficiaries of HWA by visiting the centre while going for an excursion trip to S.E.A Aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa. Other than the excursion, the finalists also had a lunch session together with the beneficiaries at Old Street Bak Kut Teh where meaningful conversations were shared over a simple lunch as the finalists and beneficiaries bonded.
On 5th August, the finalists met the public for the first time at One KM Mall where they made their Self-Introductions, performed their Talent Segment, had their Fashion Showcase for Blumix of Blum & Co. as well as Swimwear Showcase for Inner Desire.
Would like to specially thank ERM once again for having me to cover the event this year!
So, let's meet the finalists of Miss Singapore Beauty Pageant 2018!
(Note: Finalists #14, #18 were not present at the event, will be sharing their official photographs instead.)

One of the highlights is definitely the judges' comments. We had our very sharp-tongued Christina and Sumini who gave very good comments and feedback for all the finalists.
When it comes to belly dancing, contemporary dance, girls style, singing or even fitness aspects - don't play play with our judges!
Moving on, after the Talent Showcase - we have the Fashion Showcase brought to you by Blumix of Blum & Co paired with beautiful pageant heels from Anna Nucci Italy.
Do head over to Youtube to watch the Fashion Showcase! Might not have pictures of all the ladies.
After the Fashion Showcase, the most exciting segment of the day came.
Swimwear.
Brought to you by Inner Desire, paired with beautiful pageant heels from Anna Nucci Italy. Make-Up was done by School of Make-Up and the finalists also had Maxim contact lenses on! Not to forget, the presenting sponsor 300% Positive (As seen on the sash)
And that's it!
The crucial moment then came where the results of the Top 4 Finalists who will be performing their talent segment once again during the Grand Finals to view for "Best In Talent 2018" were being announced.
Before that, some candid shots!
MC Jackie working hard! Did amazingly great!

Final pose with Judges & the Emcee!
Well done ladies for the great show!
Some insights from me now -
Well, as usual many photographers and fans were there to take pictures.. and I must say this is by far one of the few batches that actually stood out because many of the finalists were very tall.
This year, we also had a finalist who took the challenge of joining Miss Singapore Beauty Pageant 2018 - despite being different.
I didn't get to talk to every single one of them, but I managed to have a short interview session with one of the finalists, Sarah Chang.
The first thing that comes to my mind when I see Sarah is the word Confidence. How she struts down on the stage, how she talks and how she presents herself.
Many wondered and a few DM-ed me asking me, a finalist? You sure?
Time to bring out my favourite personal quote of all time when it comes to pageants:
Beauty is subjective, and we cannot force people who conform to a certain "beauty standards" to step out and represent; likewise we cannot stop those who aren't of a certain "beauty standard" to stop what they believe in doing.
Sarah used to be a Pepsi girl who appeared on a Pepsi Advertorial when she weighed 20 kilos+ lesser. Due to Stress and Hormonal Imbalance, she started to gain weight.
Joining MSBP 2018, she hopes to embrace body positivity, with the likes of Ashley Graham or even Demi Lovato; even though she still has issues to face.
Recently, many would have seen the picture/video of CL of 2NE1 (already disbanded) where she actually gained lots of weight. Despite that, CL's fans are still supporting her.
(Image taken from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7JZpj56Cdw)
But ultimately, what matters is that CL is still that baddest female.
When I asked Sarah if losing weight was important?
She answered that being healthy is a priority. From the start of her MSBP journey, she has already lost 8 Kilos and I personally feel that this is an amazing feat.
Nope, no starvation or fad diets but purely through hard work and determination.
Even like Ashley Graham, she does intensive workouts only to maintain and to stay healthy.
Sarah has proved herself by walking out confidently in that one piece swimsuit, singing with her beautiful voice and not afraid to speak up especially in this digital age.
Maybe, a discussion will start on Reddit, Hardwarezone or so criticising about Sarah, but guess what? I think she's definitely strong enough and capable enough to live beyond the comments of others.
It was great talking to Sarah and here's a wefie!
Maybe I'll have more interview sessions? Who knows!
Remember to watch the video of the Talent Showcase and Fashion Showcase here.
